Nizovskaia Zemlia

 

(lowland), a name given during the 12th and 13th centuries to the territory located to the southeast of the Novgorod Land along the upper Volga River. From the 14th through the 16th centuries, the term was used interchangeably with Niz and Ponizov’e to refer to the middle Volga region that extended to the Oka River.
