Okhotsimskii, Dmitrii Evgen’ Evich
Born Feb. 26, 1921, in Moscow. Soviet scientist in mechanics. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1960). Hero of Socialist Labor (1961). Member of the CPSU since 1951.
Between 1945 and 1966, Okhotsimskii worked at the Institute of Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR; since 1966 he has been at the Institute of Applied Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. He has been a professor in the department of mechanics and mathematics of Moscow State University since 1961. His chief works concern flight dynamics, the control of aircraft flight, and the development of algorithms for the behavior of complex cybernetic locomotive and manipulative systems with elements of artificial intelligence where the systems adapt to an unknown situation.
Okhotsimskii received the Lenin Prize in 1957 and the State Prize of the USSR in 1970. He has been awarded two Orders of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, and various medals.
