KAT6A

KAT6A

A gene on chromosome 8p11 that encodes a histone acetyltransferase which acetylates lysine residues in histone H3 and histone H4. KAT6A is part of the MOZ/MORF complex which has histone H3 acetyltransferase activity. It may act as a transcriptional coactivator for RUNX1 and RUNX2.

Molecular pathology
Defects in KAT6A have been linked to acute myeloid leukaemias and myelodysplastic syndrome by various translocations resulting in oncogenes and fusion proteins.
