Karkaralinsk Mountains
a mountain massif in theeastern Kazakh Hills. It reaches an altitude of 1, 565 m at MountAksoran, which is the highest point in Central Kazakhstan. Themountains are composed of granite, porphyrite, quartzite, andother minerals. The slopes are deeply furrowed by valleys andravines, and there are many lakes. Stands of pine forest, withfeather grass and mixed grass steppe vegetation, cover the slopes.There are deposits of polymetallic ores.
