a city (until 1965, a settlement), center of Verkhnekamskii Raion, Kirov Oblast, RSFSR. Situated on the Kirs River near its confluence with the Viatka River. Station on the lar-Lesnaia branch of the Kirov-Perm’ railroad line, 315 km northeast of the city of Kirov.

A metallurgy factory was constructed in Kirs in 1729; it is now a cable-manufacturing plant. The city also has a logging and timber distribution establishment and a heat and power plant.
