Johan Skjoldborg

Skjoldborg, Johan

 

Born Apr. 27, 1861, in Øsløs; died Feb. 22, 1936, in Løgstør. Danish writer.

Skjoldborg graduated from a teachers seminary and became a prominent figure in the Husmand movement (a movement of small farmers). In his novels A Fighter (1896), The Crow’s Nest (1899), Gyldholm (1902), and The New Men (1917), he realistically portrayed the hard life of small farmers and farmhands and the beginning of a conscious struggle by the peasants for their rights.
