Kemchug

Kemchug

 

(in its upper course, the Bol’shoi Kemchug), a river in Krasnoiarsk Krai, RSFSR, right tributary of the Chulym River, in the Ob’ basin. Length, 441 km; basin area, 10,300 sq km. The river rises in the western outskirts of the Vostochnyi Saian Mountains. In its lower course it flows through a wide and, in places, swampy valley. The mean annual flow rate at the village of Surazovka is approximately 60 cu m per sec. The Kemchug is frozen from October or November to April or early May. The major tributary (right) of the river is the Malyi Kemchug.
