Izvestiia Moskovskogo Soveta Rabochikh Deputatov
(News of the Moscow Soviet of Workers’ Deputies). (1) Daily newspaper, organ of the Moscow soviet of workers’ deputies, published during the December armed uprising of 1905. It was published from December 7 (20) through December 12 (25), six issues in all. Circulation, 5,000–10,000 copies. It published resolutions of the Moscow soviet of workers’ deputies and of trade unions and materials devoted to the uprising in Moscow and the revolutionary movement in the country. Short articles, notices, and appeals written by workers were inserted.
(2) Daily newspaper, organ of the Moscow soviet of workers’ deputies, published from Mar. 1 (14), 1917, as Biulleten’revoliut-sii (Bulletin of the Revolution), then as Biulleten’ Soveta rabochikh deputatov (Bulletin of the Soviet of Workers’ Deputies), and from March 15 (28) as Izvestiia Moskovskogo soveta rabochikh deputatov. Up to May 1917, it was edited by I.I. Skvortsov-Stepanov. In May the Bolsheviks left the editorial board, and the paper came under Menshevik influence. The paper became Bolshevik once more on Sept. 5 (18), 1917. The editors were Skvortsov-Stepanov, N.L. Meshcheriakov, and M.N. Pokrovskii. The literary section was headed by A.S. Serafimovich. During the October Uprising, it was published as Izvestiia VRK (News of the Military Revolutionary Committee; nos. 1–7, November 3–10). On November 15 (28) it was renamed Izvestiia Mosk. soveta rabochikh i soldatskikh deputatov (News of the Moscow Soviet of Workers’ and Soldiers’ Deputies) and on Jan. 3 (16), 1918, Izvestiia Sovetov rabochikh, soldatskikh i krest’ian-skikh deputatov Moskvy i Moskovskoi oblasti (News of the Soviets of Workers’, Soldiers’, and Peasants’ Deputies of Moscow and Moscow Oblast). On June 22, 1918, it merged with Izvestiia VTsIK (News of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee).
