释义 | Jones, D. F.Jones, D. F. (Donald Forsha)(1890–1963) agriculturalist; born in Hutchinson, Kans. He left the Arizona Agricultural Experiment Station (1911–13) for the Connecticut Agriculture Experiment Station (1915–60) where in 1917 he developed a hybrid corn that increased yields and made commercial production more practical. In 1924 he introduced the first hybrid sweet corn. He also developed a genetic method for transmitting pollen, thus eliminating the need to detassel corn in the field. He was also associate editor of The Rural New Yorker for many years. At retirement he started Seed Producers Advisory Service in Connecticut. |
