[TA] one of the two parathyroid glands developing from the endoderm of the third pharyngeal pouch. In early development, they connect with the diverticulum of the third pouch that forms the thymus, and are carried with the thymus during its caudal migration, the glands usually migrating to the inferior poles of the thyroid gland.
