Hydrogen-Like Atoms
Hydrogen-Like Atoms
atoms that, like hydrogen, consist of a nucleus and one electron. Such atoms are ionized atoms that have lost all but one electron—for example, He+, Li2+, and B3+. Hydrogen-like atoms have optical properties similar to those of hydrogen. In the physics of semiconductors, extrinsic atoms, whose valence is one more or less than that of the basic atoms, are called hydrogen-like atoms.
