(hīnz), a test for glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase-deficient red blood cells; an oxidant (acetylphenylhydrazine) is added to blood; after incubation at 37°C, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase-deficient samples exhibit more than 30% Heinz bodies.
