healthcare scientist

healthcare scientist

A broad, generic term for any of the workers in the NHS who carry out an array of vital healthcare-related duties, playing a major part in providing health services in diagnostics, therapeutics and rehabilitation engineering, and who are often at the cutting edge of technological advances and innovation.
Healthcare scientists work in primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare, in both the NHS and private healthcare. The 40-plus job titles are grouped into three main sections, based primarily on the underlying branch of science from which they originate: life sciences, physical sciences, and physiological sciences, with pay bands defined under the Agenda for Change initiative ranging from 2/3 to 9.
