(hĕ-pat'ō-bil'ē-ar-ē hep'ă-tī'tis) Interruption of the normal bile flow with resulting inflammation of liver tissue. Caused by cholelithasis or cholestasis. Often linked to the use of oral contraceptives and allopurinols.
