He has written a wide range of different musical works, including operas , symphonies (symphony), and a series of ten string quartets (The Naxos Quartets 2001-2007). He has been a conductor for both the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2004 he was given the position of Master of the Queen’s Music, whose duties include writing music for royal occasions. His full title is Sir Peter Maxwell Davies.
