单词 cambro-
释义

Cambro-comb. form

Stress is usually determined by a subsequent element and vowels may be reduced accordingly. Some degree of stress is always maintained on the first syllable. If the subsequent element is an existing word, it is likely to retain its original stress pattern, e.g. Cambro-Ordovician Brit. /ˌkambrəʊɔːdə(ʊ)ˈvɪʃən/, /ˌkambrəʊɔːdə(ʊ)ˈvɪsɪən/, U.S. /ˌkæmbroʊˌɔrdəˈvɪʃən/.
modern Latin Cambro-, as in Cambro-Britannicus (1592), used as combining form in the sense ‘pertaining to Cambria, Welsh’. Also in sense ‘Cambrian’ (Geology).
