释义 | Cape ColouredCape Coloredadj.n. South African. A. adj. Designating a person of mixed ethnic descent born or living in the Western Cape of South Africa, esp. one who speaks Afrikaans or English as a first language, and who is not a Muslim (cf. Cape Malay n., Cape Muslim n.); of or relating to such people. Cf. coloured adj. 3d.Although the term coloured when used with reference to race is offensive in some varieties of English, in South Africa it is often regarded as neutral, and Cape Coloured is still used as a self-designation by some people. However, the use of the term as an official sub-classification within the ‘Coloured’ racial category during the apartheid era means that it is avoided or rejected by others.
