Etymology: Partly (apparently originally) shortened < fanzine n., and perhaps also partly (in some later uses) shortened directly < magazine n. Compare slightly earlier prozine n.

A magazine, esp. a fanzine or other magazine produced non-professionally for a relatively small audience.Originally with reference to science fiction fanzines.
