Etymology: Old English wraxlian = Old Frisian wraxlia (West Frisian wrakselje , wrokselje ). The original form of the stem may have been wrasc- ; compare Old English wrǽstlian wrestle v.Previous versions of the OED give the stress as: ˈwraxle.
Obsolete exc. south-western dialect.
intransitive. To wrestle; to contend, strive. Also figurative.
