Etymology: < Buster Brown, the name of a boy comic-strip character whose stereotypically innocent appearance contrasted with his disruptive behaviour.The character was created by Richard Felton Outcault (1863–1928), U.S. cartoonist, in 1902.
Originally and chiefly North American.
1. attributive. Designating a style of dress, or an item of clothing, reminiscent of the attire of Buster Brown. Chiefly in Buster Brown suit, Buster Brown collar.The suit worn by the comic-strip character was of an affected style, with knee-length trousers worn with high socks, a wide white collar worn on the outside of a long jacket, and a flamboyant cravat.
