单词 wearish
释义

wearishadj.

/ˈwɪərɪʃ/
Forms: Middle English werische, Middle English–1500s werysshe, weris(s)he, -ysh(e, wearysh(e, wear-, weerishe, weerysh, 1500s–1600s werish, weerish, 1800s dialect warish, werrish, 1500s– wearish.
Etymology: Late Middle English werische ; of obscure origin. Compare wersh adj. which is probably a contracted form of this. There is some resemblance in form and sense to the early modern Dutch wers, wars, warsch, ‘contrarius, adversus, malus’ (Kilian), modern Dutch wars, disgusted, averse, weary of, Dutch dialect warsig, Frisian wêrzich disgusting; but etymological connection seems improbable.
Obsolete exc. dialect.
