单词 wase
释义

wasen.

/weɪz/
Forms: Also 1500s wayse, 1500s–1600s, 1800s waze, 1800s weize, weise, weese, wais, waese, etc. (see Eng. Dial. Dict.).
Etymology: Found in various Germanic languages: Middle Swedish vasi weak masculine, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian vase bundle of straw, fascine, etc., Middle Low German (whence modern German dialect and technical) wase faggot, fascine, pad worn on the head for carrying burdens, Middle Dutch wase torch, North Frisian waas , pad inside a horse-collar. It is doubtful whether the English word is adopted < Scandinavian, or represents an Old English *wasa . See wrase n., which appears to be a variant.
