Etymology: < bus n.1 + boy n.1, as a shortening of omnibus boy (1839 or earlier in sense 1, 1896 or earlier in sense 2). With sense 2, compare earlier bus n.1 3, omnibus n. 6.
1. A boy or man who collects fares, etc., on a bus. Obsolete.
