单词 busaun
释义

busaunn.

Brit. /buːˈzaʊn/, U.S. /buˈzaʊn/
Forms:

α. 1700s– busaun.

β. 1700s–1800s buzain, 1800s busain.

Origin: A borrowing from German. Etymons: German Busaune, Posaune.
Etymology: < German †Busaune trombone (late 15th cent. or earlier; in early modern German also busaun , 1616 or earlier), organ stop resembling a trombone in tone (late 16th cent. or earlier; not recorded in this sense in dictionaries of the language), variant of Posaune posaune n. (compare the German forms cited at that entry). Compare earlier posaune n. In β. forms probably after Dutch †buzain (apparently 17th cent. or earlier denoting the organ stop, although neither that sense nor the sense ‘trombone’ are recorded for this form in dictionaries), variant of bazuin trombone (1599 as †basuyne ; already in Middle Dutch as busīne , bosīne , basūne ; ultimately < Old French boisine , buisine buysine n.).

1776 J. Hawkins Gen. Hist. Music IV. i. x. 150 The word Buzain is a corruption of Busaun, or, as it is now spelt Posaune, which signifies a sacbut or bass-trumpet.
1989 Early Music 17 387/2 We may be asking far too much of Virdung's illustrations if we expect a meaningful proportionality; we have only to compare his Felttrummet with the Busaun just above it to see the egregious level of inaccuracy.
