1939 H.-T. Fei Peasant Life in China v. 84 According to accepted principle, all the patrilineal descendants and their wives that can be traced to a common ancestor within five kinship grades consider themselves as belonging to a kinship group called Tsu.
1957 in K.-C. Chang Archaeol. Anc. China (1963) vi. 168 P'i (grandmothers and female ancestors) was partnered to tsu (grandfathers and male ancestors).
1966 M. Freedman Chinese Lineage & Society i. 5 Almost all tsu (lineage) relatives in the village are related through a grandfather.
