Geology.
Of, pertaining to, or designating the later of the two main series of Pre-Cambrian rocks in NW. Scotland, which occur in a narrow belt running from Cape Wrath to Skye and consist chiefly of sandstones, grits, and shales; also the time of their deposition. Also absol., the Torridonian series.
