Etymology: < Old Norse tein-n twig, rod: compare gull-, járn-teinn rod of gold, of iron, Middle Swedish tēn ‘smal stång (af metall)’, Söderwall; Swedish ten. Cognate with Old English tán, Middle Dutch teen twig.
Obsolete. rare.
