单词 theologo-
释义

theologo-comb. form

Stress is usually determined by a subsequent element and vowels may be reduced accordingly. Some degree of stress is always maintained on the second syllable. If the subsequent element is an existing word, it is likely to retain its original stress pattern, e.g. theologo-jurist n. Brit. /θɪˌɒləɡə(ʊ)ˈdʒʊərɪst/, U.S. /θiˌɑləɡoʊˈdʒʊrəst/.
Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin theologo-.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin theologo-, combining form (in e.g. theologo-philosophicus theological and philosophical) of theologus theologue n.; compare -o- connective.
As in theˈologo-inquisiˈtorial adj. of or pertaining to a theological inquisitor. theologo-jurist n. a jurist who treats of theology.
