As a modifier. Designating an extinct hominid known from remains found in a gravel pit near Boxgrove, and fossils of this hominid. Esp. in Boxgrove man.This hominid is one of the earliest found in Europe, dated to about 500,000 years ago, and is usually identified as Homo heidelbergensis.
