Sept. 14 Epaminondas rebuilt, ornamented, and beautified the streets until he raised the position of telearch from one of ill repute to that of the highest dignity. 2004 G. Alexander Def. Poesy & Sel. Renaissance Literary Crit. 349 Plutarch recounts that the fourth-century BC Theban statesman and general was appointed telearch.
