1931 J. L. Simonsen Terpenes I. p. xii An apparent exception to the ‘isoprene rule’, the hydrocarbon, sylvestrene, has been shown not to be a plant product.

1952 E. E. Turner & M. M. Harris Org. Chem. xix. 317 Simonsen..showed that the precursor of sylvestrene is the naturally occurring (+)- Δ³-carene.
