Etymology: < Spanish sures, plural of sur south, south wind (see south adv.). In sures pardos < South American Spanish (Peru) †sures pardos (1748 in the passage translated in quot. 1758², rare) < sures + pardos , plural of pardo dun-coloured (13th cent.), apparently < pardo pard n.¹

Obsolete.

The southerly winds of the coasts of Chile, Mexico, and Peru. Also sures pardos: such winds accompanied by fogs.
