Etymology: < (i) French suppurable (1615 or earlier; compare Middle French insuppurable (16th cent. in an isolated attestation)), or its etymon (ii) post-classical Latin suppurabilis (1537 or earlier) < classical Latin suppūrāre suppurate v. + -bilis -ble suffix.
Medicine. Obsolete.
Capable of becoming, forming, or discharging pus; (later also) suppurating, suppurative. Also in figurative context.
