Etymology: < post-classical Latin suppullulat-, past participial stem (see -ate suffix3) of suppullulare to spring up (a1212, 1523 in British sources; from a1523 in continental sources) < classical Latin sup- , variant of sub- sub- prefix + pullulāre pullulate v.
Obsolete.
intransitive. To spring up or appear in place of another.Apparently only in the works of Bishop William Barlow.
