Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin supīnitās.
Etymology: < classical Latin supīnitās state of having one's head or body thrown back, in post-classical Latin also indolence, idleness (15th cent. in a British source; a1536 in Erasmus) < supīnus supine adj. + -tās (see -ty suffix1; compare -ity suffix).
