Cytology. Obsolete.
A condition of the nucleus during cell division, characterized by pairs of chromosomes twisted around one another or in the form of twisted rings; in most cases applied to diplotene nuclei.

The chromatin appears in much the same condition as in the preceding stage, except that in many places it may be seen that the two portions of the thread are more or less loosely twisted together.
