Anatomy.
(a) The corpus striatum, a body of grey matter within each cerebral hemisphere comprising the lentiform nucleus (i.e. the globus pallidus and the putamen) and the caudate nucleus; some writers also include the claustrum. (b) (Now the more usual use.) = neostriatum n., i.e. the putamen and the caudate nucleus only.
