释义 | sonometern. 1. Any of various instruments chiefly used to study or illustrate the relationship between the length of a vibrating string and the musical note it produces. A common version consists of a soundboard or resonance box with two strings, one of which can have its effective vibrating length changed by means of a movable bridge or fret; the strings are sounded simultaneously to compare the notes they produce.
