Etymology: < Afrikaans skinder to gossip, transferred use (to render English gossip v.) of skinder to slander < Dutch schender person who corrupts, injures, or damages another person or thing (1614; < schenden to shame, violate, disgrace (see shend v.1) + -er -er suffix1). Compare skinder n.
South African colloquial.
