Etymology: Apparently < a first element probably of arbitrary origin (perhaps compare bone n.1) + -ol suffix + -ine suffix5.
Now chiefly historical.
A celluloid composite material, used to manufacture billiard balls.In the 19th century, billiard balls were chiefly made from ivory. Bonzoline was developed as a cheaper substitute.
