1940 Brit. Jrnl. Surg. 27 713 The term ‘sialectasis’ which has been used to describe the condition is not strictly correct etymologically, translating as ‘a stretching out or dilatation of the saliva’.

1953 Brit. Med. Jrnl. 19 Dec. 1359/2 The underlying pathology in..sialectasis, sialangiectasis, or chronic recurrent parotitis, is obscure, but the essential feature is obstruction of the parotid ducts.

1974 J. D. Maynard in R. M. Kirk et al. Surgery ix. 201 The parotid architecture may be normal or reveal the curious appearance reminiscent of radiographs of bronchiectasis, called sialectasis.

1977 Proc. Royal Soc. Med. 70 483/2 In the ‘sicca’ or Sjogren syndrome, Patey & Thackray (1955) have described lymphoid tissue in and around intralobar ducts which breaches the walls and allows radiopaque dye to escape during sialography, causing ‘punctate sialectasis’.
