Etymology: < classical Latin sensifer that causes sensation ( < sensus sense n. + -fer -fer comb. form) + -ous suffix; compare -ferous comb. form.
Now rare.
Conveying or producing sensations; (in later use) spec. designating the parts of the nervous system responsible for sensation (= sensory adj. 1).
