单词 schottische
释义

schottischen.

Brit. /ʃɒˈtiːʃ/, /ʃəˈtiːʃ/, /ˈʃɒtɪʃ/, U.S. /ˈʃɑdɪʃ/
Etymology: < German (der) schottische (tanz), the Scottish dance. The quasi-French pronunciation given above is the prevailing one, but has no justification; the form used in French is scottish, regarded as English and pronounced /skɔtiʃ/; Littré gives also the semi-German spellings schottish, schotisch, but with the same pronunciation. In German the pronunciation is /ˈʃɔtɪʃə/.
a. A dance of foreign origin resembling the polka, first introduced in England in 1848. Also the music for such a dance.
