释义 | Satann. 1. a. Esp. in Christian theology: the proper name of the Devil, the supreme embodiment or spirit of evil, the tempter and spiritual enemy of humankind, the adversary of God. Cf. devil n. 1, Lucifer n. 2.The name Satan is used in the writings of all three of the Abrahamic religions, though the figure referred to has been represented somewhat differently in the three traditions. In Judaism Satan has been understood as being an agent of God, acting as a tempter to evil or as an accuser of humans before God, or alternatively as a symbolic representation of the human inclination to evil. In Christianity Satan is sometimes portrayed as the leader or prince of a number of fallen angels. In Islam Satan is generally seen as a disobedient angel who became a demon (cf. sense 1b), who seeks to tempt humans into sin (see also shaitan n.).
