释义 | Sahelanthropusn. Palaeontology. An extinct hominid, Sahelanthropus tchadensis, known from late Miocene fossil remains found in northern Chad, and dated to about seven million years ago. Also: the genus Sahelanthropus itself. Sahelanthropus might predate the differentiation of humans and chimpanzees. It is known only from a single cranium nicknamed ‘Toumai’.
