Origin: A variant or alteration of another lexical item. Etymon: bollocks int.
Etymology: Euphemistic alteration of bollocks int., probably after rollick n. (compare rollicking n. 2). Compare slightly later rollock n. E. Partridge Dict. Slang (ed. 3, 1949) records Tommy Rollocks and a shortened form rollocks in the meaning ‘testicles’ (hence presumably as noun) as rhyming slang for bollocks, and dates this to c1870, although no attestations earlier than Partridge's reference have been traced.
