Etymology: < the name of Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen (see Roentgen n.) + -o- connective, chiefly after German Röntgeno- (formations in which are found from the end of the 19th cent.).Found in a small number of formations within English and adaptations of foreign words, all belonging to scientific vocabulary, from the end of the 19th cent. and beginning of the 20th.
