Etymology: < ro- (in road n.) + rail n.² + -er suffix¹. Compare later road-railer n.The Ro-Railer was tested by London, Midland and Scottish Railway (L.M.S.) early in 1931. It was put into service in Stratford-upon-Avon on 23rd April 1932 and withdrawn in July due to technical problems, although it apparently continued in use as a road vehicle for some years.
