Origin: A borrowing from Greek, combined with an English element. Etymons: Greek ῥύπος , -phagy comb. form.
Etymology: < ancient Greek ῥύπος dirt, filth (see rhyparograph n.) + -phagy comb. form. Compare medieval Greek ῥυπαροϕάγος foul-feeding.
