Palaeontology.
Any of various extinct diapsid reptiles of the family Rhynchosauridae or order Rhynchosauria (infraclass Archosauromorpha), comprising heavily-built herbivorous forms with tusks and powerful beaks, known from fossil remains of the Triassic period.The rhynchosaurs were formerly included among the rhynchocephalians but the two groups are now placed in different infraclasses.
